Teens' Counselling
At Kinections you can talk with a counsellor one on one or as a family, it's up to you. You can even bring along a friend for support.
We listen to stories about:
- Friend and boy/girlfriend problems
- Feeling depressed
- Parents fighting
- Parents breaking up
- Someone you love dying or leaving
- Someone hurting you
- Being stressed out
We can meet for half an hour once a fortnight, one hour once a week, or whatever works for you. That can be decided between you and your counsellor.
Counselling isn't only about talking, you know! Feeling comfortable with your counsellor is important here at Kinections, so we want to work the way you want to work.
Stories can be told in many ways, through:
- Games
- Symbolic work
- Clay work and sculpture
- Painting and drawing
- Acting and psychodrama
- Story writing
- Journalling
Of course if you do just want to have a chat, that's cool too.
Our counsellors are all experienced with qualifications in psychology, social work or counselling.
Our service for young people is free and confidential (private), except if we need to contact someone to help keep you safe.
We see children and youth aged 4-18 years. The first session is often so your parent(s) or carer can tell us about what they want from counselling, and the next session is for you.
