Children's Counselling
At Kinections you can talk with a counsellor one on one or with your family. We also run groups that you can come to with other children your age. In counselling we can talk about whatever you like.
We listen to stories about:
- Being bullied
- Parents fighting
- Parents breaking up
- Someone you love dying
- Being really angry, scared, sad or worried
- Someone hurting you
We usually meet for about half an hour once a fortnight, but that can be decided between you and your counsellor.
Counselling isn't only about talking, you know! Having fun and feeling safe is important here at Kinections, so we want to work the way you want to work.
Stories can be told in many ways, through:
- Games
- Sand play
- Working with clay or play doh
- Painting
- Drawing
- Puppet play
- Doll house play
- Story writing
Our counsellors are all experienced with qualifications in psychology, social work or counselling.
Our service for children is free and confidential (private), except if we need to contact someone to help keep you safe.
We see children and young people aged 4-18 years. The first session is often so your parent(s) or carer can tell us about what they want from counselling, and the next session is for you.
