The Men and Family relationships service within Spiritus Counselling and Education service provides a broad range of assistance to men and their families. The aim of this service is to help men develop and maintain strong family relationships and/or deal with conflict or separation. This service is available to all family members including: partners; ex-partners;children; step children; brothers; sisters; aunts; uncles; cousins; and grandparents. Spiritus is funded to provide family relationship counselling; relationship and education skills training for men; community development; community education; support and information; and referral.
Spiritus also provides a broad range of activities. These activities involve (but are not limited to): fathers groups, men’s relationships groups, sports days, camping, canoeing, community projects, sailing, fishing and more. Through providing community and group activities, they are encouraged to form positive relationships within their families and the broader community.
Upcoming Events:
- Hey Dad! A 6 week fathers program aimed at men exploring the challenges of fathering. The next group will start in early May 2011 and will be run out of the Early Parent Centre - 105 Poinsettia St, Inala.
- Men and Intimacy workshop. Aimed at building and strengthening intimacy in the lives of men and their families.
- Fathers program. A partnership program working with refugee and migrant men.
- Young men’s program. Facilitated from local state high school working with young men, exploring leadership, communication and more.
