CAMS is a community–based multicultural service supporting Queensland migrant and refugee families and individuals to gain greater access to community services that will assist them to become active and contributing members of the wider community. Working with local communities and government agencies, the CAMS worker supports migrant and refugees identify unmet needs, barriers to inclusion, and opportunities for development, working with them and their community to develop responses that will strengthen relationships and families.
What our service offers:
- Community Capacity Building for CALD groups
- Facilitate cross-cultural information sessions for government and non-government services providers to respond to various CALD community needs
- Develop & participate in projects that improve the knowledge of CALD community members
- Create better awareness of ethnic communities through events that celebrate multiculturism
- Link Individuals and community groups to relevant services. Including referrals
- Development of quantitative and qualitative research to support policy change on CALD needs
- Advocate to government and non-governement service providers to meet the needs of ethnic communities
- Attend relevant networks to raise needs and issues of ethnic communities and encourage agency linkage with relevant communities
- Develop partnershops with Multicultural workers from other organisations.
Ongoing and emerging issues that may arise with which the program could assist:
- Participate in Community Cultural developments projects
- Collaborating with universities and other stakeholders to support research on CALD groups in the region
- Facilitate information session on identified issues affecting the communities. Examples include: health, immigration
- Facilitate community consultation
- Actively participate in relevant reference groups

- 24 Nov: Sundanese Community Lost Boys.
