Service Principles and Standards

Service Principles

Our approach to service delivery is to work towards the development and sustainability of respectful relationships within our community.

We take a holistic approach as we work across multiple domains of child development, personal and family relationships and your links and interactions with your community and broader society.

We demonstrate our commitment to you by upholding the following values in every instance of service delivery.

  • Respect and dignity
  • Integrity and honesty
  • Inclusiveness and diversity
  • Professionalism and ethics
  • Responsiveness

Because we exist in a culturally diverse society, we are committed to cultural inclusiveness and at all times we operate within the principles of social justice:

  • Access
  • Equity
  • Participation
  • Equality

We value and encourage a positive learning environment in all our services and at all times we aim to be compassionate, co-operative, collaborative and consultative.

We are committed to providing quality service to you and your family, and it is to this end that we direct all our policies and procedures.

And, not as an afterthought, but as a direct and central mention, we are committed to reconciliation partnerships with the original custodians of the land upon which we all live: the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples.

Service Standards

Spiritus Counselling and Education Services adheres to the standards of accountability as established by the Commonwealth Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs through the Family Relationships Services Program, and the Queensland Department of Communities Standards.

In essence, these standards establish accountability and transparency in the following key service provision areas:

  • Access to service: To ensure that each person's access to the service is decided only on the basis of relative need.
  • Equity: To ensure that services are developed and delivered on the basis of fair treatment of needs and equality of access in accordance with the service types available.
  • Communication: To ensure that clients are informed of the scope and purpose of services to be provided and that clients are proactively engaged in ongoing consultation about the nature and efficacy of the services provided to them.
  • Responsiveness: To ensure that services provided are responsive to the needs and requirements of clients from all linguistic and cultural backgrounds, and responsive as far as practicable to the particular circumstances of the individual.
  • Effectiveness: To ensure that our services are at all times needs-orientated within the parameters of the service types offered.
  • Efficiency: To ensure that all service types optimise the use of available public resources through a needs-responsive approach to service delivery which maximises outcomes for clients.
  • Accountability: To ensure that at all times transparent and open accountable reporting mechanisms are in place to justify public and other expenditures in service delivery types.
